The Regional EMS Council of NYC is tasked by Article 30 of the NYS Public Health Law with the coordination and support of Emergency Medical Services within New York City. To meet this mandate, NYC REMSCO, through its committees and staff projects, collaborates with all sectors of EMS to ensure that our EMS practitioners are the best trained, equipped and prepared in the world. This is accomplished through development of pre-hospital treatment protocols, regional training programs, emergency preparedness and mutual aid coordination, regional quality assurance and other programs.

Clinical Coordinators (2 openings)

NYC REMSCO has two positions open for Clinical Coordinators supporting our EMS Peer Support Team. These grant funded positions will work in coordination with the Council’s other Clinical Coordinator, Program Coordinator and EMS Mental Health Stakeholder Committee, to run the NYC REMSCO Mental Health Peer Support Program.  This is a 1099 Contracted Position with an estimated 40 hours a month work, with the potential for additional hours for major team activations. 

 Responsibilities: 

  • Provide initial case management and/or crisis intervention to a diverse population of EMS Providers 
  • Develop, implement, and review treatment plans with the lead Clinical Coordinator and Program Coordinator. 
  • Write progress notes for all sessions conducted. 
  • Provide 2nd level coverage of the 24/7 EMS Support Hotline. 
  • Assist in leading peer training and monthly peer support meetings. 
  • Oversee monthly outreach programs. 
  • Give clinical leadership during team activations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead Clinical Coordinator and Executive Director. 

 Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited school in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling is required 
  • Interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical and clerical staff 
  • Ability to manage time effectively to ensure documentation compliance 
  • Previous knowledge of CISM and/or QPR preferred, not required. 
  • Exceptional writing skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Dedication to workplace mentorship and team-based care 
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment 
  • Preferred: Current or Past EMS Experience 

Compensation: $50/hr – 1099 contracted position

Program Coordinator 

NYC REMSCO is looking for a Program Coordinator to provide organizational, administrative, and programmatic support to our EMS Peer Support Team. Working in collaboration with NYC EMS Mental Health Stakeholder Committee, Clinical Coordinators and the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, effective communication, and successful delivery of peer-led support services. This grant funded position requires strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to mental health advocacy and peer support values. 

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate daily operations of the Peer Support Team, including training, meetings, and team deployments. 
  • Work with the Clinical Coordinators to assist with data collection, reporting, and documentation for project stakeholders. 
  • Assist in managing the 24/7 Peer Support Hotline. 
  • Maintain up-to-date program files, team personnel records, and tracking systems. 
  • Facilitate communication between Clinical Coordinators and peer support team members. 
  • Provide administrative support for the NYC EMS Mental Health Stakeholder Committee. 
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of peer support staff and volunteers. 
  • Help organize and attend training, monthly meetings, and outreach initiatives. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Coordinators and Executive Director 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field. 
  • Experience in program coordination, project management, or administrative support (nonprofit or mental health setting preferred). 
  • Understanding of peer support services and experience as a peer (preferred but not required). 
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build positive relationships. 
  • Preferred: Current or Past EMS Experience 

 Compensation: $60,000/annually 

This is a grant funded position, position continuance beyond 06/30/2026 is dependent on extension of grant funding.
