Course Description

This one-day emergency preparedness seminar will provide a broad overview of potential care needs for the pediatric patient involved in an emergency/disaster situation. The seminar will include information for medical, trauma, and safety response specific to the most vulnerable population in any emergency—children.

Topics will include:

  • Pediatric Mental Health Crisis
  • Care and Transport of the Critically Ill Pediatric and Neonatal Patient in Emergency Situations, including care of intubated children
  • Emerging Issues in Non-Accidental Trauma, including human trafficking and asylum seekers
  • Pediatric Sports Medicine Emergencies
  • Orthopedic Trauma in Children

Target Audience

Nurses, Healthcare Providers, Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, School Representatives, Respiratory Therapists, Mental Health Services, and those that provide care and support services for children.

Accreditation

This program will be joint provided.

Albany Medical Center is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This learning activity will award a maximum of 6.0 Continuing Nursing Education Hours.

Also, this learning activity will award a maximum of 6.0 hours REMO continuing education credits for EMS.
