The course is intended for Certified Instructor Coordinators and Certified Lab Instructors.

Bridging the Gap – What I Thought I Knew as a NYS EMS Instructor… But didn’t! (1 hour)
- How to Request Course Approval
- Beginning of Course (BOC)
- End of Course (EOC)
- Explain the required certified to non-certified ratio (1:1)
- Identify when and how an Instructor Coordinator must be available during a course
- Clarify the requirements for authorized course offerings
- Describe the limitations of instructor levels
- Understand the ongoing CIU (Continuing Instructor Update) requirements
- Recognize the role and responsibilities of Specialty Course Sponsor
EMS Documentation-More than Just a CYA! (1 hour)
- Describe why accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments is essential
- Explain the QA/QI process and how field providers contribute to system improvement
- Demonstrate how the PCR (Prehospital Care Report) supports continuity of patient care
- Articulate how well-documented EMS calls protect providers in the event of legal action, including criminal charges or civil (tort) claims
