Excellence in Quality and Safety: Michael Redlener, MD

Michael Redlener, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Medical Director for Prehospital Care and Disaster Preparedness at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals. Dr. Redlener received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. He completed a residency program in Emergency Medicine at New York University/Bellevue Hospital followed by a fellowship in Prehospital and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medicine with the New York City Fire Department. Dr. Redlener’s research and professional interests include clinical quality improvement in EMS, disaster preparedness education and hospital preparedness.  Michael recently was named the Chairman of the National Association of EMS Physicians Quality Assurance committee. He has been involved nationally, and for the past two years has chaired the New York City REMSCO/REMAC QA Committee. Dr. Redlener has been involved in New York State and New York City stroke systems of care initiatives and has been working endlessly to advance the care that we provide to patients. Most recently, a Stroke Protocol and updated Stroke Scale has been submitted to SEMAC for review. It is hoped these innovations will improve health care for stroke patients.
